We're Really Having A Baby!

Monday was a busy day filled with all things baby, well except for maybe that grilled cheese sandwich I had for brunch and the short stroll on the beach. Dave and I both realized we did not have our phones with us! This is the kind of thing I love about him, the fact that he will get all 20th century with me!

Plus, this is kinda to cute for words.

My first doctors visit of the day was just a routine prenatal checkup. I was able to listen to the baby's heartbeat for the 2nd time and was told that the little one sounded A-OK! I recorded it but am not sure how to post it on the blog. If your interested in the pitter patter of this cute little one, I can text it to you.

The second doctors appointment I had my favorite person next to my side which made it all the more amazing. This was the second step in the three part genetic testing extravaganza. We were able to hear the heartbeat again and then see our little one in greater detail on the big screen. We definitely have a baby that likes to kick back and relax but that is also willing to show off their dance moves with a spontaneous worm and a friendly wave for their parents.

Introducing Baby Daniels!

I keep having dreams that the baby is a boy and it looks like Dave. If those lips are any indication that I am right, this is going to be one adorable baby. The sonographer made a "scientific" guess that we will be welcoming a baby boy in the near future but assured us to not paint any walls blue just yet! So, we will wait until August to get the 100% answer to the big question. I guess I should mention, a psychic told us we would having a girl. So, I guess we shall see which is more accurate.

This was the moment when Dave was so overwhelmed with testosterone that I thought he might've just crushed a beer can on his forehead.

Our final baby activity involved a trip to UCSD where we were able to meet the maternity team. They offer a wide variety of services and we learned a lot more about what we want and need on the day we bring our baby into the world. I was a bit to worn out to go on the hospital tour but we will surely make an appointment soon to check out their digs.

I've been feeling better...YEA!!! But I have also been taking more naps and my belly is growing to make room for all those dance parties I know this little one is enjoying in there. Okay so one last photo of the baby waving to us, what a friendly one we have in there, definitely a little half Texan!

Game Day

We received a great invitation to spend Father's Day with Dave's sister, Alicia and family on Sunday at the San Diego County Fair!

Robles Family enjoying a rousing game of Connect Four.

This was my first visit to the Fair. The theme was Games and apparently all things bacon. I love games but bacon is my new kryptonite. Not a huge fan of that delicacy lately. Never fear, I managed to find other things to inhale.

Dave practiced being a hero of a dad by winning his nieces a fish later named, Gilly and two puppies.

Tilly and Gilly

The puppies, Blue and Red.

The dad's found their favorite part of the Fair....25 cent massages....you can't beat that!

Look at all that joy!

Being with child, prohibited me from riding any rides or eating the nitrate laced corny dogs.....but I finally found something that I could do...

Although it appears I am riding some sort of a hovercraft, it is just a foot massager.....and by just I mean that best foot massager ever made.

Thankfully this photograph was taken:

Dave, Lucy, and Martin.

As day turned to night our feet, sunburned skin, and need for real food headed us South towards home.

The day was a lot of fun and we were so happy to get to spend Dave's first Father's Day with our favorite family! Next year we are so excited that we will get to bring our little one to enjoy the sights and sounds and maybe just maybe that corny dog I had to say no to.

Plans Change

I had plans to write all about the beginning of the genetic testing and our first visit to a birthing center we are considering however, our old pal morning (all day and night) sickness took over my soul. I did however, get to visit a lot of public restrooms and trash cans in the past few days. I want to go ahead and make a huge apology to the juice bar at Whole Foods, those unladylike noises that came from me were disgusting and I am sorry if it made you lose customers!

On the genetic testing front, I had blood drawn, which is step 1 of 3. The next test will be an ultrasound were they will look at the thickness of the baby's neck. Step 3 will be another round of blood work. Fingers crossed these will all come back showing no issues with the baby.

The birthing center visit went well and was very informative. Going to wait on making a final decision for a little while longer, since we are still early on.

Before I even thought I would ever be having a baby I began working on a baby quilt. I found these vintage transfers and got to embroidering and now that I know that I am having a baby I am doing my best to complete this project.

Since I am lacking in photos of the update, please accept in there place this one of Dulce that I took this morning.

I mean if our baby looks anything like this I will be happy! ;)

Research with a side of Chocolate

We braved the mean aisles of IKEA to devour cheap food and do some baby furniture research. So happy Dave approved of my choice of a crib. Affordable and a blank canvas for a fresh coat of paint in the shade of red, yellow, or turquoise. I am really wanting to D.I.Y. most of my baby bedding, décor, etc. Nothing says love like homemade!

Already an expert Dad! Just doing some light reading on the wild and wacky world of keeping your baby alive while it sleeps in a crib.

I was pleasantly surprised and overjoyed they still carry Kakor Chokladflarn. Which stands for cookies sent straight from Heaven by way of the Swedish. Dave and I decided they taste like chocolate covered popcorn, which is a favorite treat of ours.

With apartment hunting pending, we will wait on purchasing any baby furniture for a few months. But mark my words or Wayne's.......

Times Are A Changin'

This past weekend we flew to the great state of Texas to load up a 10 ft. truck with the rest of my earthly belongings. I like to think it was teamwork that made the loading of the truck go by so easily but in all honesty it was the man of my dreams being all dreamy and getting the job done. He even managed to figure out the freight elevator without any of us cursing or losing a limb!

I was able to meet up with friends from work and my brother for lunch at my favorite Indian restaurant, Roti Grill. This place seriously has the BEST Chicken Tikka Masala, the baby agrees! The meeting of Dave and my brother, Michael, went extremely well. I am thinking their future holds many conversations about Slayer, road rage, and the ease of growing beards.

The best part of driving a "big rig" is well driving a "big rig"! I may or may not have referred to the scene before me as "the open road" a few to many times. What can I say, I may be made for sitting up high, old school country radio stations, and 10 minute power naps. Props to Dave for taking the better part of the driving duties so I could take quite a few of those power naps.

Even though we were on a mission to get back to the west coast, we managed to stop so Dave could:

wrestle a bull

befriend dinosaurs

and for us to purchase baby's first prezzie

 a sweet pair of moccasins!

Glad to be home in our comfy bed but man oh man I gotta say I miss my home state and all the people who make it wonderful.

We're Gonna Be Parental Units!

So we made this announcement last week!!!!!

That's right, the world knows all about the impending arrival of our very own magnificent creation. So glad to have the cat out of the bag and now everyone can revel in my morning sickness stories and my nodding off in mid viewing of Vampire Dog can now be explained!

These are two of the four cousins. They are somewhat excited and somewhat baffled, as this photo so perfectly showcases, about the "baby" that will be here for Christmas (fingers crossed).

Favorite things about this photo:

1. Our first (and only) photo of our baby.

2. I finally got to wear the yellow dress I splurged on prior to knowing we were expecting.

3. Dave's face is priceless.

4. We were able to have these photos taken in the spot (Sunset Cliffs) that spurred me to make a lot of life changes.
